Welcome to Doon Gooseberry Farm, where tradition meets sustainability. For over 30 years, our family has been cultivating the rich soil of the Himalayan foothills, bringing you the finest organic products straight from our farm to your table.
Our Beginning
It all started in 1990 when my grandfather, a passionate agriculturist, decided to transform our ancestral land into an organic farm. He believed in working with nature, not against it. Today, we continue his legacy with the same dedication and love for the land.
Sustainable Farming Practices
Organic Cultivation
We never use chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Instead, we rely on:
- Composting: All organic waste from the farm is composted and returned to the soil
- Natural pest control: We use companion planting and beneficial insects
- Crop rotation: Different crops are rotated seasonally to maintain soil health
- Water conservation: Drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting reduce water usage
Biodiversity
Our farm is home to over 50 species of birds, numerous beneficial insects, and a variety of native plants. This biodiversity creates a balanced ecosystem that naturally controls pests and diseases.
The Harvest Process
Timing is Everything
We harvest our gooseberries at the perfect moment of ripeness. Early morning harvests ensure the fruits are at their freshest, with maximum nutrient content and flavor.
Hand-Picked Quality
Every gooseberry, mango, and vegetable is hand-picked by our experienced team. This careful selection ensures only the best produce reaches your kitchen.
Processing Within Hours
Our processing facility is right on the farm. Within hours of harvest, fruits are transformed into pickles, chutneys, and jams, locking in freshness and nutrients.
Community Impact
Local Employment
We employ over 20 local families, providing stable income and training in organic farming techniques. Many of our team members have been with us for over a decade.
Knowledge Sharing
We regularly conduct workshops for local farmers, sharing our organic farming techniques and helping them transition to sustainable agriculture.
Supporting Local Economy
By sourcing packaging materials and other supplies locally, we contribute to the regional economy and reduce our carbon footprint.
